Italy Adventures

Almost a year ago now my wonderful Sister In Law Brittney came out to visit and she really wanted to go to Italy! So as part of our trip across Europe we made a stop in Rome and Venice and Verona.

First stop is Rome, Italy and this was one of my favorite stops in Italy, at least during this trip. We drove to the little town Aviano and parked there and took the train to Rome, that saved us at least another full day of driving so we could spend more time in Rome. The train ride was about 5 hours but it was easy and would recommend that to anyone. It was warm during our time there but it did not stop us from getting out and seeing the sites. We did the Hop On Hop Off tour bus as an easy to get around so we did not have to walk everywhere. Another thing I would recommend especially if you are pressed for time this is an easy way to see almost everything touristy. Brittney and I also went to Vatican City to see the Sistine Chapel, Phill did not want to wait in line to get in but we could not pass up the opportunity to go. Other than that we walked the streets and ate gelato and enjoyed our time. On to the next stop...

Next stop Venice, Italy. This was on the top of Brittney's places for a must see. Phill and I have already been here a few times so Phill let me be her tour guide and go by ourselves. It was so fun to travel together just her and I. Phill staid behind because he wasn't feeling all to well and wanted to be able to have fun later in our travels. So Brittney and I again went to the train and headed out. About an hour or so from Aviano by train. We got lost in the streets and found some cute places to stop and take pictures, thankful to have her as my model. We shopped and ate good food and staid till it got dark. Venice is beautiful at all times of the day and with the golden light of fall and cool air it was refreshing after burning up in Rome. One more stop in Italy...

Last stop in Italy is Verona. The small romantic town that was the setting of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. We ended up driving there because it was about an hour away so it was easier than taking a train. Again this day trip was just Brittney and I because Phill had no interest in going there. We set out and explored the beautiful city. We shopped and saw Juliet's balcony. We found a cute wine shop that had a cafe in it and little bakeries to get a snack before leaving. We really enjoyed our trip to Italy but our next stop is in Austria and you can hear the sound of music in the hills there!
